Misty's Story...
Boy- what an eventful few weeks this has been! First, my family tells me they are moving and that I can't come with them, then I find myself at this terrible place called a shelter-I was so scared! Then a nice CBHR volunteer came to save me and wisked me off to another house. I was very sad and quiet when I first arrived, not really comprehending why I was taken from the people I loved and shuffled through so many unfamiliar homes. I slept a lot and barely responded to petting. But I got used to my new foster home, and I began to reveal my stunning personality. I am sweet and gracious to my living companions (I currently reign over a household of one American Foxhound twice my height and an orange tabby cat), I love to amble around the backyard and curl up in the sunshine whenever I get the chance. A genetic failing in the Bassett Hound genes has caused my front left leg to bow out at an awkward angle, but it doesn't cause me any pain. I still lop around at my top speed of four miles an hour, grinning from ear to floppy ear. 05/04/08 ----------------- For an Adoption Application, please visit www.cbhr.com and either download/print the online form or simply call/email CBHR to request one in the mail. Thank You for considering a Carolina houndie!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Misty, a Charleston Basset Hound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Basset Hound for sale in Charleston, or seeking a Basset Hound dog from a breeder in Charleston.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Charleston already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Charleston breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Basset Hound breeders who help with Basset Hound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Charleston paves the way for another one to be saved.
