Mary Poppins's Story...
Hi everyone, I'm Mary Poppins but you can just call me Poppy. I am a mature, between 8-9 year old lady but my foster momma said you would never know it. I used to live with my Mom but she developed Alzheimer's disease and couldn't care for me any longer. I am housebroken, like kids, cats and other dogs. I am a velcro baby and will be stuck to your side all day long. I walk very well on a leash. I am a very sweet baby who is in search of my new home. Can I come to live with you? Call CBHR today and ask how you can adopt me for a reduced adoption donation of $100. 07/21/09 For an Adoption Application, please visit and download/print the online form (you will need Adobe Reader to print) OR call/email CBHR to request one in the mail. Thank you for considering a Carolina houndie!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Mary Poppins, a Charleston Basset Hound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Basset Hound for sale in Charleston, or seeking a Basset Hound dog from a breeder in Charleston.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Charleston already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Charleston breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Basset Hound breeders who help with Basset Hound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Charleston paves the way for another one to be saved.
