Scooby's Story...

This cute 6 year old boy was recently pulled from an animal shelter. This picture makes him look smaller than he really is -- he's HUGE! And those feet are gigantic! And those ears are long and heavy! He is also heartworm negative and very sweet. While I was waiting with him at the vet, I gave him the old CBHR welcome snooters and scritchers, which he enjoyed immensely! Another thing you can't see in this picture is that he has very sweet eyes that just look up at you, while he waits for some attention. Woody will be getting his CBHR Special, and then heading to a foster home. His good looks and sweet personality will have him in a forever home in no time. 05/14/11

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Scooby, a Charleston Basset Hound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Basset Hound for sale in Charleston, or seeking a Basset Hound dog from a breeder in Charleston.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Charleston already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Charleston breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Basset Hound breeders who help with Basset Hound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Charleston paves the way for another one to be saved.
