My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This is Carlee, a seven-month-old kitten in need of a home. She and her siblings were born to a feral Mom, and have been in a foster homes since March being assessed and socialized for our foster adoption program with the Humane Society of Wilkes.

Her sister, Alex, quickly became cuddly and affectionate, landing her a permanent home pretty quickly. Carlee's brother, Marley, became a big ole (literally and figuratively) cuddle bug and is now waiting to find his forever home.

They won't be able to place Carlee in their adoption program because she remains too shy and timid, causing her to cower in her cage and sometimes hiss when she feels threatened. Space is needed in the foster program for new rescues, so I brought her back to live temporarily with Carlee's Mom and Dad (which have been spayed/neutered). However, I feel Carlee will thrive in a home that will be patient with her and allow her to move freely inside or inside/outside

Carlee can be a very affectionate kitty - on her own terms - she will rub up against your legs as you clean the litter box, and allows you to pet her while she is eating, and actually starts the purr machine.

Carlee definitely has potential to be a loving affectionate kitty, but needs to find a home that allows her the freedom to hide when she wants to be alone and the willingness to let her come out of her shell in her own time. Carlee is spayed and up to date on vaccines. She is healthy and petite, like her mom who only weighs seven pounds.

Please consider giving her a chance, I don't think you will regret it. For adoption information contact Amber Amberherman@alumni.unc.edu
