If you like soft, velvety cats, you'll love Velvet! This dilute calico is as soft as her name. Velvet was born in 2016 and is front-paw declawed. She came to us all the way from Kentucky and is a very sweet southern lady. Velvet is also very friendly and curious. She will walk around the cat room looking to see if anything or anyone has changed. She loves people and is always happy to meet new human friends. Velvet also gets along well with her feline roommates. She is an overall awesome cat. We don't get many dilute calicos at the shelter, and when we do, they are usually adopted quickly. If you are interested in providing Velvet with a forever home, meet her soon!

About Heartland Animal Shelter

About Our Shelter...

Heartland Animal Shelter is a no-kill humane 501 c 3 organization dedicated to finding homeless pets forever homes while educating the public on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets in order to help with the pet overpopulation problem.

Dr. Herbert Preiser, DVM and founder of Heartland Animal Shelter wanted to make a difference by saving the lives of pets who might otherwise be euthanized because of the over-population of unwanted pets. Dr. Preiser opened Heartland Animal Shelter in October of 2002.

Heartland's vision is to eliminate euthanasia to any adoptable animal. Heartland asks for your support by spreading the word about the importance of why pets should be spayed or neutered in order to prevent overpopulation of cats and dogs. Together we can make a difference!
