My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Looking for a home! Location: St. Louis, MO.

Rita wants everyone to know she is doing really, really well. But is there a home out there for a sweet little kitty who has to take medication twice a day? She hopes so with all her heart!

My foster mama says I am super sweet. I purr instantly and love to play! I come running across the room if you pick up a toy!

I was on death row at a local animal control. I was covered in fleas and bald from an allergic reaction. And I test positive for FIV. My name is Rita, and my life almost ended there, in that animal control!

Thankfully, a kind woman (my namesake) agreed to drive me to St. Louis city, where another kind woman agreed to quarantine me and let me stay until my foster mama could take me. These people all saved my life!

I have gone to the vet multiple times and was diagnosed with Mast Cell tumors. This means that my body produces too many histamines, which can cause skin tumors and an allergic response (wheeziness). My condition is now under control by taking antihistamines twice a day--- Please don't overlook me because of a diagnosis. I love to purr and bonk my head on you. I still have a future! I would love for you to be part of my future-- I'd be so grateful if you were int invite me home.

I am also eligible for the "permanent foster" program for the right applicant. So if you want to bring me home but worry about vet bills, please ask about this option!
