My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Ru Paul, I call him Roo for short, is a very drop dead gorgeous, well bred rottweiler who we pulled from the euthanasia list at the county shelter. He is presumed to be 2 years old. He seems to do well with other dogs however when he entered the pound he had been attacked by another dog. There are bite wounds all over his body so he may have even been attacked by multiple dogs. He is well on his way to healing but is missing some fur where he had to be shaved for his wounds to heal.
He is a very mellow boy. He is calm and is happy just hanging out with his peeps. He flinches when strangers reach out to touch him. It seems that he may have been mistreated in his past, we have not seen him around cats or kids.

Here is the story about the day that I pulled him from the shelter.

Two of Rotten Rottie Rescue's board members, Nicole Fobar and Kelly Jo Ray dedicate time every single day of the year, checking the list of dogs in trouble at MCACC for rottweilers. If one shows up on the euthanasia list, then they pull the dog, post the dog on this page requesting a foster home and tell me so I can go to the pound To a evaluate the dog. Well today this handsome guy showed up, I had some time so I Took a drive to Meet him. I tell you the truth when say to you, that I fell in love at first sight!

I stopped at whataburger and bought him a hamburger on my way there, and I tore it into small pieces and he gently took every thing I offered him. Since I had a new best friend , I asked him if he wanted to go for a walk. He wasn't wearing a collar and I didn't have one with me, so I made a slip leash out of my leash, slipped it over his gigantic head and opened the kennel door. I fully expected him to take advantage of the situation and bolt out the door and yank me through the building, but he didn't do that at all. I went through the gate and he hesitated and waited for permission to go through the door, and then walked with a loose leash, in a perfect heal, out to the play yard, ignoring all the other dogs who were barking at him and lunging at him from inside their kennels.

In the play yard he was affectionate with me, and friendly to all the people who stopped to stare at him with their jaws on the floor, because he is so handsome!!

As I sat there with him, he let me examine his entire body and I realized that he has been in a fight with another dog recently, because he had skin infections around both ears, on his cheek and on his leg. I am certain that it was a puncture that was not cleaned properly and it is now a big thick nasty scab.

Everywhere else on his body was filthy dirty and very flaky. So I decided to borrow a bottle of shampoo and a hose and give him a bath. I think he loved that!

Then I had to take him back to his kennel, unfortunately, and he looked so sad, so I knelt down to his level to tell him that I would be back tomorrow to pick him up. He pressed his big old head into my chest and gave me a hug!!! They say he is 2 years old and I agree with that estimate.

He is very well behaved at my house. He does not counter surf, or fence fight or go to the bathroom in the house. In fact he has a bladder of steal I think and only goes potty outside about 3 times a day. He does not have the urge to mark everything he comes in contact with, which I love about him!!
