I'm Purrcy and I'm a 5-1/2 year old white and black cat. I'm still adjusting to shelter life, but I'm happy to know that I'm ready to go home with the right person. What about you? I like the people here at the shelter, but I really need a human of my very own. Are you looking for a lovable, soft, furry, purring, cuddly cat? I thought so. Let's get that application filled out and go to your house, our home. We can begin our new life together now!!!

You know, you can take me home for a donation to the shelter. Bring in something from our wish list, and you get me!!

About Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter

About Our Shelter...

We are an animal shelter that cares for approximately 1,000 animals per year. We work with Mahaska County and the City of Oskaloosa, IA to provide animal control services and we also work through the Mahaska Humane Society to educate and promote responsible pet ownership as well as low cost spay/neuter services for low income pet owners.

Come Meet Our Pets...

The public can visit our adoptable pets at the Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter any time during normal business hours. We are open to the public Tuesday-Friday 11am-5pm and Saturday 11am-4pm.

Our Adoption Process...

Potential adopters must complete a pre-adoption application in which questions regarding responsible pet ownership are asked. Once approved the adopter is allowed to adopt and must pay an adoption fee which varies based on the age and species of the animal being adopted. At the time of adoption the adopter must sign an adoption contract. All animals are spayed or neutered prior to adoption.
