I'm "Sassy" and I'm a one-year old brown tabby cat. I have a bit of an attitude, but I think I will be fine as soon as I am in a home of my own and with people I love. I would be willing to let you wait on me hand and treat and attend to my every need. Come save me from this place of many cats, and I promise to be devoted to you the rest of my life. You will never be sorry you picked me out the crowd. I'm ready for you--are you ready for me? Of course, you are!

And you can have me with you furever just by bringing in a donation to the shelter. Pick up something for the pets left behind, and I can go home with you!!

About Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter

About Our Shelter...

We are an animal shelter that cares for approximately 1,000 animals per year. We work with Mahaska County and the City of Oskaloosa, IA to provide animal control services and we also work through the Mahaska Humane Society to educate and promote responsible pet ownership as well as low cost spay/neuter services for low income pet owners.

Come Meet Our Pets...

The public can visit our adoptable pets at the Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter any time during normal business hours. We are open to the public Tuesday-Friday 11am-5pm and Saturday 11am-4pm.

Our Adoption Process...

Potential adopters must complete a pre-adoption application in which questions regarding responsible pet ownership are asked. Once approved the adopter is allowed to adopt and must pay an adoption fee which varies based on the age and species of the animal being adopted. At the time of adoption the adopter must sign an adoption contract. All animals are spayed or neutered prior to adoption.
