Hi, I'm "Oz" and I'm a 2-year old grey/tan tabby cat, and I'm a hunk of furry love here at the shelter waiting for a new home and family. I'm excited to meet you and show you just what a great cat I am. I would love to snuggle up on your lap and take a little snooze while you read or watch TV. I'm willing to let you up to go get me treats any time you want though!! I would like to be your new best friend and make your life a tiny bit better, so come and get me soon!! I'll be waiting!! You can take me home for a donation to the shelter from their wish list. Bring something in for the ones left behind, and you get to take cute, lovable, furry me home with you!!

About Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter

About Our Shelter...

We are an animal shelter that cares for approximately 1,000 animals per year. We work with Mahaska County and the City of Oskaloosa, IA to provide animal control services and we also work through the Mahaska Humane Society to educate and promote responsible pet ownership as well as low cost spay/neuter services for low income pet owners.

Come Meet Our Pets...

The public can visit our adoptable pets at the Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter any time during normal business hours. We are open to the public Tuesday-Friday 11am-5pm and Saturday 11am-4pm.

Our Adoption Process...

Potential adopters must complete a pre-adoption application in which questions regarding responsible pet ownership are asked. Once approved the adopter is allowed to adopt and must pay an adoption fee which varies based on the age and species of the animal being adopted. At the time of adoption the adopter must sign an adoption contract. All animals are spayed or neutered prior to adoption.
