About Friends of Jessamine County Animals, Inc.

About Our Rescue Group...

Friends of Jessamine County Animals, Inc. is a nonprofit federally recognized tax-exempt 501(c)3 organization that was founded in March 2010 by a group of animal lovers. Our Directors, Foster Homes, Officers, and Trustees are all volunteers. Expenses are funded through our membership, adoption fees, and donations.

Come Meet Our Pets...

All of our pets live in foster homes so they can be met on an appointment only basis. We also participate in several adoption and fundraising events throughout the year.

You can find us at PetSmart in Brannon Crossing in Nicholasville, KY on most Saturdays between 11ish-4ish. Specific times can be found on our facebook page.

Our Adoption Process...

Canine Adoption Fees vary by age*: - Puppy (under 1 year): $200.00 - Adults (1 year and older): $150.00 - Seniors (age varies by breed): $120.00 * Some adoption fees may vary based on sponsorship or other factors. Services included in adoption fee: veterinary exam, spay/neuter, heartworm test (if age appropriate), microchip, current on Distemper/Parvo, Bordatella and rabies vaccination (if age appropriate), fecal tested and de-wormed, current on flea and heartworm preventative. Other services are done as deemed necessary.

The normal adoption fee for cats/kittens is $75 which includes Spay/Neuter, UTD on shots, Feline Leukemia tested, Feline AIDS tested, Flea/Tick treatment and any additional vetting deemed necessary (dental work, medications, etc.)

Our adoption process includes completing an adoption application and waiting for approval. Friends of Jessamine County Animals, Inc. wants to place all of our animals in homes that are best for the pets as well as for the family. We try very hard to make compatible matches to ensure lifetime commitments. We reserve the right to decline applications based on the pet's best interest and needs. Home visits, vet references and landlord approval are required before animals are adopted.
