Facts about BEAN

  • Breed: Westie, West Highland White Terrier Mix

This is 'BEAN'  - (Dog & cat friendly...)

Picked up as a stray a couple weeks ago (no chip) and an owner hasn't surfaced. He's a wire-haired terrier of some flavor - Cairn - Westie?  (we have no clue).  He is probably about 5 years old - and full grown at 12 lbs. He is dog AND cat friendly, actually likes cats better than other dogs... walks well on a leash and is housebroken.

He had his vet visit and it was reported that he is heartworm positive. NO BIGGIEs - it's not a death sentence because it IS treatable and once his treatment is complete, he will be as good as new!  There is no reason he cannot be placed in a new forever home while he is being treated -- but the hitch is that he MUST be able to see our Vet in Broward County for his 2-3 treatments and follow-up visits - OUR DIME of course.

Adoption fee $300

NOTE: Adoption/rehoming fees are applied towards the vet bill: Exam, blood tests, vaccinations, fecal, worming, spay/neuter, and microchip. There is rarely anything left over, but if that happens, the monies get applied to the next or previous pet - who may have had to have an x-ray, be groomed or have a dental.

About Grateful Paws Dog & Cat Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

We are a group of animal loving people who volunteer our time to save the life of a dog or cat in need. We are not breed specific but our ability to help depends entirely upon whether we have a foster home in which to place the pet while we are looking for a new forever home.

We are entirely volunteer and none of us are compensated for our time or efforts. Monies donated go toward the animals in our care.

Come Meet Our Pets...

For the most part, we reply primarily on the internet because we all work full-time jobs during the week!

We do not have a physical building - but we try to participate in Saturday (and sometimes a Sunday) adoption events from 11am - 3pm on a regular basis. Please check our website for our most current calendar that shows where we will be. www.gratefulpaws.org..

It is always best to check the Upcoming Events page of our website www.gratefulpaws.org/upcomingevents.html

or give us a call to find out where we are going to be. Week nights 954-462-8840 eves after 8pm or on the week-ends: 954-579-3753.

Our EMAIL is monitored day and night, and is the BEST way to contact us.

Our Adoption Process...

We perform a telephone or in-person interview and ask our perspective adopters to complete an application for review by our board (generally takes a day or less). We want to meet the family, so we will come to your house to see where our pet will live. We do a vet check and if applicable, a landlord or condo association check as well. And finally, we accept an adoption donation that is applied towards the vet and care bill for that pet. The range is from $75 to $350.
