Onyx's Info...

I am already neutered, housetrained, up to date with shots, good with kids, and good with dogs.

Onyx's Story...
Onyx was the family dog, one of a pair until the parents were divorced, the children grew up and moved out, and then his doggy buddy was hit by a car. Since then Onyx has been one dog on a mission, a mission to find another family with children and possibly another dog. He LIVES for children, big and little short or tall Onyx loves them all and wants nothing more than to be in the middle of the activity.

HISTORY
Onyx was a much loved family companion all his life, until the family moved apart. Since then he has found himself in the company of Dad, who is more interested in gardening and other activities than in Onyx. No other family member is in a position to take him, so at 10 years old this boy finds himself homeless.

SOCIALIZATION
Onyx loves children, Does well with other dogs after proper introduction. He is an all around snuggler. He must be tested with cats prior to adoption into a cat-owned home.

TEMPERAMENT
He is a low energy guy who just wants to be part of the family and watch the action, indulge in the occasional skritch, and have a treat now and then.

TRAINING
Onyx is house-trained, loves a ride in the car, and does okay in the bath. Has very little formal training but loves to please and is really easy to get along with. We were told he didn't mark inside his original home, but he's tried to mark in his foster home, which has many interesting dog smells. He will need to be monitored closely for this behavior, and should probably not have free, unsupervised access to the whole house until his new people are sure he's remembered his manners.

HEALTH
Onyx appears to be in good health, he's about 60lbs. His gums are healthy, he has some tarter buildup but not an unusual amount for his age.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Onyx, a Richland Labrador Retriever/Chow Chow dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever/Chow Chow for sale in Richland, or seeking a Labrador Retriever/Chow Chow dog from a breeder in Richland.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Richland already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Richland breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever/Chow Chow breeders who help with Labrador Retriever/Chow Chow rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Richland paves the way for another one to be saved.
