Poor DJ has been let down by way too many people already in his very short life. He is just a little over 1 year old and a bulldog/st. bernard mix. He was born into a backyard where he lived for the first 10 months of his life. Probably with little human contact and we are certain without proper medical care. That is until his "family" surrendered him to the county shelter where he lived for 6 weeks until he was adopted...he was promptly returned within 24 hours due to being an untrained puppy. Though, because of his size people assume he is not a puppy. After being returned he was there for another 4 weeks before the shelter needed space and he was put up for euthanasia. A woman saw his photo and video on the Rescue Me-Tampa Facebook page and had to help him. She went and adopted him and took him home where she hoped he would be a good fit, but he knocked down her handicap boyfriend and DJ couldn't stay. The rescue agreed to foster DJ for 3 days while she located another home for him. Needless to say, she never found another home, and the rescue couldn't allow him to return to the shelter where he would most definitely be euthanized. We are working on his training, he is not aggressive, he is simply a very excitable puppy who happens to weight a lot HAHA. We would prefer he go to a home with some one who is experienced with pups like him and are willing to continue the training he needs!

About Ruff Beginnings, Inc

About Our Rescue Group...

We are an all breed dog rescue based out of west central Florida. We are strictly foster based, which means we do not have a physical shelter. All our rescues are in homes with families until they are adopted to their forever homes. All of us here part of the RBR Family have life long passions of helping to save animals. We do this because we want to make a difference and save as many as we can in our life time. If you are unable to adopt, but are interested in fostering, the rescue does pay for everything!! Without Fosters, we can't keep saving!

Come Meet Our Pets...

We list all our adoption events on our facebook page.

Our Adoption Process...

Before any adoptions, we require anyone interested in adopting one of our pups to foster for at least 1 week to ensure they are all the right fit for each other. Prior to this foster period, they will be required to fill out a foster-to-adopt agreement as well as an adoption application. Submitting an application or even taking one of our dogs for a foster-to-adopt period DOES NOT guarantee you will be approved. We reserve the right to deny any application for any reason if we do not feel the pet you are interested in is the best match for you. We also require that at anytime during our adoptables life, should the new owner be unable to keep and or care for them, they are returned to the rescue immediately.
