Rocco was found in the streets by a Good Samaritan who unfortunately didn’t have the means to really care for him very well. They posted him up on Craigslist for free, looking for a family to take him in. We often some unfortunate things come out of “free to a good home” posts, so we offered to bring Rocco into foster and promised to find him the best forever home!

Rocco is a roughly 7-month old Heeler Mix, we are not entirely sure what he is mixed with, but Heeler is his predominant physical character tics. Our estimate is that he will be a mid-sized dog, in the 50-60 pound range.

He will be an ACTIVE dog while he continues to grow and an active adult. He would be best suited for a family that can commit to consistently getting him proper exercise and socialization. He will be great running, hiking, adventure buddy for the right family.

Rocco is still a young pup who didn’t get the benefit of a loving home when he was a baby, so he is looking for a family who will provide him with positive guidance as he continues to grow and develop into an amazing family companion. He is not yet fully potty trained (he’s trying hard!), so his adoptive family will need to understand the challenges that can come with potty training a new pup.

Rocco currently lives with other dogs of all sizes and does well with them. He loves to play and would be a great dog park companion. He has never shown any aggression toward people or animals, but he is a bit clingy at first, we are certain that before he was found, not too many people gave him positive attention.

Rocco is best suited family for a family that understands that dogs can take time to acclimate to their new homes - which will likely include having accidents, crying in their kennel, and chewing on things they are not supposed to. He is working hard on him leash manners, but this is still a work in progress.

We expect our dogs to be adopted by families who plan to keep them as indoor pets and part of the family. We do not adopt to families who plan to keep dogs outside for an extended period of time, for example the entire workday.

Rocco is healthy and has had him vetting completed (shots, microchip, and neuter). He is too young to need a heartworm test, but has been on preventatives. He does not have any health issues that we are aware of.

About Reggie's Friends- Austin

About Our Rescue Group...

Reggie’s Friends was founded out of our love for helping dogs. Living in a city of 1.2 million homeless animals, there was rarely a day when we didn’t see a dog in need of help. Instead of just wanting to do something, we figured out how to do something! Reggie’s Friends is dedicated to the health and welfare of dogs in and around the greater Houston, TX area. We focus our attention on helping shelter dogs, street dogs, and dogs who have been abandoned in boarding facilities find loving, forever families.

Our Adoption Process...

Our adoption process begins with an adoption application and a home visit. Once an applicant is approved, an adoption contract and fee are required before the dog can join their new family.
