My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

DOB August 1, 2012.

Sweet Geisha has come a very long way since her arrival in foster care. She had two ruptured eardrums which completely debilitated her. She needed help to do everything from using the litter box to standing and walking.

Because of her damaged eardrums, she still has a slight head tilt which is most endearing. She has a blue mouse with a feather tail which she loves to throw and catch and will carry it around with her. She also loves the dangly toys hanging from the from the door frames on bungee style cords. She will run and slide across the floor until it bounces away and then she runs from the other direction.

Geisha is not much of a cudddler. She will sit next to you and let you pet her, but when she's had enough she moves away. She will stay in the same room and sit watching her humans. If she feels threatened she will swat or nip.

Geisha was one of over 200 cats rescued from Quebec Project Velcro. She had a severe head tilt from two ruptured eardrums from an ear mite infestation. She took her medicine like a champ and has regained all the typical kitty behaviours with the exception of vertical jumping. She does climb, but needs her claws to do that.

In the last five months she has learned perfect litter box habits. With physiotherapy she has regained not only the ability to walk, but also the ability to run and play. The only thing she cannot do well is jump up. She will climb, but needs her claws to help her up. Her forever home will need to okay with this habit. In her foster home she climbs up on the bed to sleep with her foster mom. Geisha is looking for a forever home that will allow her to continue gaining strength in her hind legs, but who will accept her climbing on things using her claws. She needs a single floor home or someone who is willing to make sure she doesn't use stairs.

Her foster family shares: "Geisha has been one of the toughest foster kitties I've ever had the privilege to foster. When I first picked her up I was told we would assess her quality of life in a few weeks and determine her fate then. To me this was a call to action. From the very beginning I had faith Geisha would recover and I worked with her every day. She loves the other foster and resident cat in my home. She will sometimes get a little aggressive and nip at the boys if they decide to ignore her. Another playful cat with whom she could wrestle would be ideal. Her forever humans will need to be patient. She needs time to trust people. If I were to adopt another kitty it would be Geisha! She truly is a survivor in every sense! I ask that her forever family stay in touch with me so that I can continue to get reports on her progress!".
