My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! I am Tex, but my foster mom calls me Blue, as I'm a blue tick beagle and I seem to respond better to Blue than Tex. I'm a young beagle, probably between 2-4 years old. I have lots of energy and curiosity and am learning to be a great pet. I am mostly housebroken now, though when I first arrived in my foster home, I did mark things for the first couple days, until I figured out that I need to go outside to go potty. Now I'm doing great!
I'm working on learning the ins and outs of living in a house and the other dogs here are teaching me lots. I like to chew and my foster mom has to keep an eye on me because I haven't quite figured out which toys are for dogs and which things are not for dogs to chew on. I am very keen on destroying all stuffed toys. I prefer to rip them to shreds! I love nylabones and things I'm allowed to chew. I'm crate trained and very well behaved when in my crate.
I LOVE food-I gobble up my dog food very quickly and would like to eat the other dogs' food as well, though I'm not allowed (I still try!). Treats are awesome and a great motivator for me to learn new things. I'm working on learning to sit and to walk on a leash. Going for walks is one of my favorite things though my sense of smell leads me to walk every which way right now. But, I'm working on getting a little more controlled on a leash. I am very smart and if given the opportunity, I will make an escape. I have to be watched well in the yard and anytime a door is open. The world is so very exciting and I'd love to go explore it all. I can jump over a baby gate as well. I do love to sleep on dog beds or comfy blankets. I'll spin in circles for quite some time until I get my chosen place just perfect. My foster mom thinks this is very cute.
I'm very good with the other dogs in the house, though I don't really understand that I could play with them. Sometimes I run around with them in the yard, but we don't wrestle or play tug with toys, yet.
One thing you may want to know is I have some itchy skin. I'm trying a course of benadryl 2-3 times a day to see if that helps. If not, the vet is going to have me try other options to decrease my itchy skin. I don't have dandruff and luckily I don't scratch hard enough to cause any sores or hot spots.
If you are looking for a curious, energetic, sweet boy who's working on becoming a terrific pet, Tex (aka Blue) is your boy.
NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).
