My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Are you looking for a gentle companion for walks and couch time? Papi may be everything you're looking for. He's good on leash (being a beagle, he does need to investigate everything). He's not big on playing with other dogs, but he's friendly and relaxed in face-to-face meetings.
Papi shares his foster home with an 11-year-old female beagle and two cats. He shares beds, the couch, etc. with the resident beagle, and tends to follow her lead with regard to house manners. He’s respectful of the cats, if occasionally curious, and will back off if someone doesn’t want to be sniffed or followed. He's happiest hanging out in the yard (bonus points if there's a sunbeam and some foliage for him to lie in), on the couch, or on the bed. He’s a very quiet guy, although he will sometimes "sing" if he hears a siren while he's outdoors.
Papi is not at all destructive, but he does like to "entertain" himself with the contents of trash cans, especially if they contain interesting-smelling stuff like cat hair. He also likes wool - slippers, yarn, sheepskin - and he will steal wool items in order to lick them. He's not particularly interested in "official" toys. Papi is housebroken, although he'll ask to to go outside several times a day when someone is home. He is crated during the day while his people are at work, and he keeps his crate clean and dry. Papi has the run of the house when his people are home.
Papi has no special needs. He had many teeth removed when he came to Midwest BREW, but that doesn't slow him down at mealtimes at all. He's learning basic manners (sit, stay) and he's VERY food motivated (he takes treats gently, though).
Contact your adoption counselor if you would like more information on Papi.
NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).
