This stunning dilute calico came to Heartland over five years ago with four kittens in tow. They were taken in by Snuggle and passed on to us when the kittens were independent. And the kittens were huge! Seriously! One of the boys weighed 3.5 pounds at nine weeks of age; he should have been about two pounds. He was adopted out as a pair with his sister and his owners even named him Moose! Mama was adopted out five years ago and lived with three dogs and no cats. She was returned because the owner said her grandson was allergic to the kitty. It took less than two hours to know that was a bold faced lie. Simeon was using the litter box every twenty minutes and anyone that has ever owned a cat knows that means a bladder infection. I went straight to the anti-biotics and a visit to the vet the very next day to confirm my suspicions. Crystals were found in her urine and her food was switched to Purina UR. While she never seemed uncomfortable she still used the litter box way too often with small amounts of urine being eliminated. A stronger anti-biotic was used for three weeks and back to the vet for another checkup. Crystals were gone; urine was perfect, yet there were
still too many trips to the box. An x-ray revealed a bladder stone and surgery was scheduled and completed in very short order. Simeon has been cleared, has never gone outside the litter box, is sweet as a bug but REALLY hates to be pilled, misses her dog friends, and is now far more tolerant of cats. A bit of hissing when first coming back to my house and seeing and smelling the kitties; she is over that now. She needs to remain on the prescription food for the rest of her life to ensure no reoccurrences of the infection, but other than that she is low maintenance. She loves to be brushed and petted, very friendly, affectionate, quiet, and just stunning to look at. She still uses the litter box more than the average cat, but as her bladder stretches back out that will continue to subside. Simeon was born in April of 2011, she is a dilute calico with beautiful green eyes. She is spayed, up to date on all shots, micro chipped, negative for FIV and FeLV, treated for parasites, and ready to meet you and your cat friendly dogs! Simeon is Heartland #8049CL.
