Catfish needs a home because we are moving and cannot take her. She needs someone to give her attention when she wants it but also respects when she wants to be left alone to groom or nap. She loves to play with her pet rat toy and will occasionally play by herself by flinging the toy across the room and chasing after it. She likes to sit in windows. She eats grain free cat food and it seems to do well with her. She is on the brand Good Life, you can buy a big bag of it from Wal-Mart for $20-$25. She also loves to come up and rub her whole body up against you. She is tolerant of kids, but does not like kids grabbing all over her or trying to pick her up. She generally will run and hide to avoid them. I suggest a family with kids 10 years and older so they are more gentle with her.
She has never been around other cats. She has never been around dogs but when my brother brought his dog by our house, she ran and hid.

About Mountains' Humane Society

About Our Rescue Group...

We are a non profit group of volunteers that began in 1975. We have no shelter facilities, we rely only on foster homes and donations to keep our programs running.
We have membership that offers discounts at local merchants
We have newsletters with pet tips and info
We offer emergency medical funding
We have a telephone and website service to assist with lost & found animals, adoptions, Foster care and general info.
We have pet identification tags for $5

Come Meet Our Pets...

Because of our mountain location, our winter weather can be freezing and long. We encourage you to check the Calendar page on our website at www.mountainshumanesociety.org for the dates & locations of our events. You can also view photos of our current animals available by clicking on the "Adoptions" tab.
We DO NOT have a location/facility/shelter. If you would like to meet any of our available animals, we will need to set up a one on one meeting with you.

Our Adoption Process...

Please e-mail us to request an adoption application, and specify what animal you are interested in. Incomplete applications will not be considered, so be sure you fill in every line.
We ask for a $95.00 donation for dogs and a $75 donation for cats. Our adoption donation is quite a bargain if you add up the costs of everything we include; our animals are already spayed/neutered, current on vaccinations and have been tested for FLA virus (cats) and Heartworm (dogs). We also include a free local Veterinarian office visit, a folder of valuable information about your pet, a DVD to help you and your new pet adjust, and a goodie bag of treats, coupons, samples and a toy. During the "good weather" months, we will be having adoption days throughout our mountain communities at which times most of our listed animals can be seen.
