BEAR is an adorable Golden Retriever-Aus Shepherd - American Eskimo mix (based on his various traits!) who LOVES all people & other dogs; he needs an active home and definitely at least one other dog to play with.

BEAR, age 2.5, was actually raised since 8 weeks old by a couple with young children who are both dog trainers, so he knows several commands and is housebroken and crate-trained. However, when the couple separated and their schedules and housing situations changes everyone agreed Bear needed a couple or family who could continue to give him the attention, exercise and affection he deserves.

BEAR gets along with absolutely every dog and puppy he meets. In his foster home he is always part of the action; little puppies can crawl all over him and get rowdy and dogs twice his size don't bother him at all, he loves them, too!

We are looking for a home kids over 12 because Bear can still be mouthy and though he responds really well to commands & training we want his new family to be able to continue the progress he has made.

BEAR he DEFINITELY needs a canine-companion.

Bear is also calm, cuddly and gentle when the the people and other dogs are. He is not demanding and he takes cues from other dogs in the pack. He needs more time training on socializing outside of the home so we want experienced adopters who understand that rescue dogs need time to acclimate to their new humans & surroundings.

This Golden Boy is ready for Forever to Begin! Please apply for Bear on www.dashdog.org!

General Info - PLEASE READ! *Our $350 adoption fee is based on the cost of rescuing, transporting and vetting each dog; we do not try to compete on prices with municipal shelters whose funds are paid by the city. Our philosophy is to rescue highly adoptable dogs, have them live kennel-free in private homes for temperament assessments and individual personalities.

We work hard to match EACH dog with the right family - kids or no kids, other dogs male or female and/or cats. With very rare exceptions all dogs over 6 months will be spayed or neutered PRIOR to adoption - dogs over 6 months will include a spay/neuter date AND referral info for lower-cost surgery if the adopter does not choose to use her or his personal vet. OUR VETS WILL NOT PERFORM SPAY NEUTER SURGERIES UNTIL DOG IS 6 MONTHS OLD.

Please READ ALL of our info below BEFORE SENDING APPLICATION.

Our goal is to help our puppies and dogs find FOREVER HOMES AND FAMILIES, NOT TO MAKE IT PROHIBITIVE FOR YOU TO ADOPT. However, once we review the application and contact you we MEET TO ADOPT, so please let us know if you are ONLY APPLYING TO STAY ON FILE or THAT YOU ARE READY TO ADOPT, for the consideration of our puppies and dogs and families who know the time is right!

About Dallas Australian Shepherd and Herding Dog Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

I am the Executive Director - I started DASH with a select group of co-rescuing friends and neighbors because we saw a need to rescue very adoptable dogs from Death Rows at municipal shelters and believe through foster care we can work with and train these dogs to be ideal family pets.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We do not have a shelter - we accept online applications and either have individuals meet at foster homes or we will bring dogs to a safe, fenced neutral area - depends on situation.

Our Adoption Process...
