Tommy's Story...
We are moving to a no-pets-allowed apartment and need to find a good home for our cat, Tommy. He is a 13-year-old black and white tuxedo cat, very healthy and has been well cared for. Tommy is not exactly a lap cat, but he loves to be near his humans. He will sleep right by your head at night and station himself on your armchair as you watch TV. He loves to be petted and is a purr machine! We love him very much and are very sorry not to be able to keep him. We are happy to help support his upkeep if that is an issue. Tommy's previous owners declawed his front paws. If you have another cat or two, he will probably keep to himself until they are used to each other.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Tommy, a Astoria American Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a American Shorthair for sale in Astoria, or seeking a American Shorthair cat from a breeder in Astoria.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Astoria already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Astoria breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even American Shorthair breeders who help with American Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Astoria paves the way for another one to be saved.
