My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet affable Parkie, a 10-year-young girl with so much to give. Parkie lost her human a short time ago and has been living as a guest at the Marin Human Society. Initially quite shy, Parkie has proven her wisdom by knowing what's what. She realizes all the people she meets are potential friends, so she comes now to greet her visitors and enjoy her interactions. Parkie loves gentle pets and hand nudging are the rules of engagement.

While we have little knowledge of her previous lifestyle, we suspect she enjoyed a quiet life and was the sole recipient of all attention and affection. A similar living situation with adults would be ideal for Parkie. She will need some extra time to become acclimated to a new home, so her adoptive family should be patient during the transition period. The activity and energy of young children will be too much for this gentle older cat, but she might accept the companionship of polite older teens who will treat her with respect. Once Parkie gains confidence and feels comfortable in her surroundings, her shyness should dissipate as it has with us, and her affectionate nature is sure to shine.

With her white face and pink nose Parkie is at risk for skin cancer from exposure to the sun. For that reason, as well as for her continuing health and safety, it will be important to keep her exclusively indoors. She might enjoy a shelf or perch near a sunny window for naps or watching activity in the neighborhood.

The way to Parkie's heart is through lots of petting, some brushing, reassuring words and patience. Her world has been turned upside down, but with your consistent care and love she can discover the security, confidence and happiness she so richly deserves as a cherished member of your family for years to come.

Parkie is at the Marin Humane location.
You can learn more about her by calling (415) 506-6225 or visiting her at 171 Bel Marin Keys Blvd. Novato

Parkie is considered a Courtesy Listing. We offer our services to help other responsible rescue groups or individuals find good homes for cats in need. We have screened and interviewed each of the individuals before agreeing to post their cats.
