Guardian came to the Kamloops & district BC SPCA as a stray wandering the suburbs. He was immediately friendly and pretty relaxed for a cat who has just found himself in a shelter. Guardian had no ID and was not claimed, so now that he's been neutered he is on the look-out for a purrfect fur-ever home. He is quite relaxed and enjoys spending his time curled up on the laps of our volunteers. He loves attention and becomes very excited when he sees people passing by, hoping they might stop and give him some love. He has had some large dogs walk by his kennel and has shown some curiosity. We can do further testing if requested, but we think with slow introductions and places to get away, Guardian should live in harmony with dogs. He has not shown dislike for other cats in the shelter either. Multi-cat homes should be equipped with separate bedding, dishes, and multiple litter boxes. Cats are typically solitary and can become stressed if another cat is in their territory, so very slow, monitored introductions are important.

If you are looking to add a sweet soul to the family, then you are in luck! Come down and visit the shelter, call us at (250) 376-7722, or email kamloops@spca.bc.ca for more information.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
