My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Betsy.  Betsy is a 3-4 year female traditionally marked purebred Border
Collie.  She came in with her sibling Ross.  Although not totally a bonded
pair, it is preferred that these two be adopted together.  They absolutely
adore one another, but they can function on their own without each other.
They came to BCIN via a shelter, but we have been contacted by someone who
knew them and they were able to give some more information on them.  They
were constantly getting out and their owner did not do much to control them.
When they got out, they used to go over to the neighbors, and that is who
contacted us.  They are brother and sister, but apparently not from the same
litter.  They are not good around livestock. They are good around other dogs
and are housebroken.  Their real names are Elsa and Jake, and they do
respond to those names.  We kept their rescue names of Betsy and Ross so
that we can have a proper paper trail on their documents and current vet
records.  With their prey drive, we are recommending a home without cats or
other small animals.

Betsy is dominant over her brother and she likes to be the lead.  She wants
to be in front and in charge on her walk and does pull a lot.  She is
learning her obedience and she knows how to sit and is getting better with
down and stay.

Betsy has been a bit snippy with her foster siblings, Tristan and Trevor,
but we feel that they are overwhelming with their puppy like behavior.  We
have not been able to evaluate her with another female, so we do not know
how she would react.  She can be a bit of a fence fighter if allowed to, so
we recommend direction to quell that behavior.

All in all, Betsy is a love bug, is biddable and wants to please and forge a
close bond with her person.  Betsy is typical of her breed, where not only
consistent daily physical exercise is a must, but she will need the mental
stimulation to keep her occupied and from getting bored.  Again, if you are
looking to adopt 2 border collies, then Betsy and Ross would be your pair.

If you are interested in meeting our dogs, please fill out an adoption
application.  We require a pre-approved application to be on file before any
meet and greets are scheduled.  The electronic application can be found on
our website at
