Clifford – Male – 11 years old – GRRALL #0628
Clifford Update 8/25/2017: We are thrilled to report our beautiful boy Clifford is INSIDE his very first ever home. He was at our vet for three weeks and finally healthy and clean enough to move to a foster home. Clifford loves to nap on his foster Mom’s gym bag; he adores her already, follows foster Dad around the house, and is just so happy. He is getting along great with the other dogs in the house, a sweet angel so grateful for the love and attention and basic common decency of food and shelter. If you would like to adopt, or foster-to-adopt Clifford please submit an application at: https://grralliance.org/applications/adoption-application/
Clifford Update 8/16/2017: Handsome and happy Mr. Clifford has been at our vet for two weeks and he is recovering a bit every day. Clifford has a long way to go to be healthy but for now he is inside, safe, well fed, human contact, and slowly but surely getting the grease out of his coat. So far we know Clifford is heartworm positive, still intact, coughing, and anemic. His blood chemistry shows no signs of liver or kidney disease, which is fabulous news. We expect Clifford will be well enough soon to move into a foster home. If you are interested in fostering, or ideally foster-to-adopt Clifford, please submit an application at https://grralliance.org/applications/adoption-application/
Welcome handsome Mr. Clifford to GRRALL! This sweet boy is about 10-11 years old, owner surrender. Clifford was brought to the shelter on a long heavy chain, has never lived inside a house, was filthy and covered in fleas and ticks, with motor oil saturating his coat, probably from years of sleeping under cars for protection from the heat and elements. Not surprising he is HW+. Despite it all this incredibly handsome boy had a huge grin for the volunteer who picked him up, tail wagging, and as friendly as can be. We understand he is good with young children and has very good teeth, so he could be younger than our estimates.
Clifford is at the vet now, clean and a/c and safe and well fed, no more outside for Clifford, except for potty and play-walk time. Clifford will get a thorough medical exam, vaccinations, and confirmation of his HW diagnosis. Spa time has already started, this boy will need many deep cleansing soaks to return him to his natural glory; we can’t wait for the after pictures. Once our boy is clean and healthy we will be looking for a foster home to care for him during heartworm treatment, with fosters always having the first rights to adopt the dog. We would love to minimize the moves for Clifford and have his foster home become his permanent home. You CAN teach an old dog new tricks and despite his past we fully anticipate Clifford will be very easy to house-train and won’t have any problems adjusting to a new life inside, with people who love and adore him, forever.
If you would like to foster or adopt Clifford or any dog from GRRALL please submit an application at https://grralliance.org/applications/adoption-application/
