Facts about Smith *Courtesy posting*

  • Breed: Domestic Shorthair
  • Color: Gray Or Blue (Mostly)
  • Age: Adult
  • Sex: Male
  • Hair: Short
Smith was rescued from a site where many cats were in pretty bad health. He had a horrible upper-respiratory infection. He was dirty and sad looking. But look at him now. He loves to be loved. He loves to be combed. He loves to be fed!! He is very food motivated so any new home will have to make sure they do not let him get fat because you feel sorry for him when he gives his little meow. He gets along well with other cats and is fairly good at ignoring the calm dog with whom he currently shares a home. He is about three years old and is FIV positive.

Please note: Smith is a courtesy posting for a local animal rescuer and is not affiliated with Broken Tail Rescue.

About Broken Tail Rescue, Inc.

About Our Rescue Group...

Mission Statement:

Broken Tail Rescue, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit foster-based rescue organization dedicated to the rescue of unwanted and abandoned dogs and cats in urgent need. We work closely with local animal controls, animal shelters and rescue groups to ensure the placement of these forgotten animals. We will not discriminate on basis of health, age, or breed and will only consider humane euthanasia in cases of aggression or for quality-of-life due to untreatable medical conditions.

Our animals are vet examined, vaccinated, spayed or neutered as needed and receive any and all medical treatment necessary prior to being placed into carefully screened permanent homes.

Come Meet Our Pets...

All of our pets for adoption are in foster homes. You must fill out an adoption application before being considered for adoption. Once your application is received, the foster parent will contact you to discuss whether the animal would be a good fit for your home and set up a meet between your family and the pet.

We also house several cats in our adoption center at the Framingham,Cambridge, and Everett PetSmart stores. Stop by to play with them anytime the store is open!

Our Adoption Process...

Our adoption process includes an adoption application; a meet-and-greet between the prospective adopters, the dog, and the foster family; vet and personal reference checks; and a home visit.

Adopters must be at least 21 years of age.

DOGS:

Our adoption donation is generally between $300 - $400 for most adult dogs and is decided on a case-by-case basis. Adoption donations help defray the cost of transportation, care, and medical treatment.

Our adoption donation for cats and kittens varies by age.

Kitten under 6 months: $200
Cats 6 months – 4 yrs: $125
Cats 5 yrs – 9 yrs: $100
