Facts about Artis

  • Breed: Australian Cattle Dog
  • Color: Red/Golden/Orange/Chestnut
  • Age: Unknown
  • Size: Unknown
  • Sex: Male
  • ID#: 11821677

Artis is a 7 year old, 50 lb cattle dog mix looking for someone to spend the rest of his life with. Artis was adopted out of a shelter in South Carolina as a puppy and returned to the same shelter 7 years later when he no longer fit into his family's lifestyle. He was also returned heartworm positive. ACDRA saved him and sent him to his foster home where he seemed to be wondering when his family would be back for him for a few days before fully warming up to his foster family and showing them what a sweet lovable boy he is.

Artis is extremely friendly and hasn't met a person he doesn't like. He lives with two children, a puppy and a senior dog and is great with all of them. Artis has a high prey drive, though, and should not be with cats or other small animals. He loves going for car rides, chewing on a good bone, and relaxing with his family nearby.

Artis is neutered, current on all vaccinations and preventatives, and is housetrained and crate trained. He has started his treatment for heartworm but his adopters will have to understand that he may still need a few weeks of minimal activity while the heartworms die off before being able to run, play, hike and do all those other fun dog things.

Artis is fostered in Allentown PA. For questions, please contact

About Australian Cattle Dog Rescue Association

About Our Rescue Group...

We are an all volunteer group that rescues Australian Cattle Dogs. Our dogs reside in foster homes until they are adopted
Every year, thousands of Australian Cattle Dogs find themselves homeless through no fault of their own. Although the reasons are diverse, the result is the same. Healthy, adoptable dogs face euthanasia in shelters.

The Australian Cattle Dog Rescue Association rescues ACDs in shelters from Maine to Georgia and gives these dogs a fresh start with a loving family. Our foster home volunteers welcome the dogs into their homes where they live as members of the family. During the time in foster care, our volunteers determine what kind of forever home will be the right one for each dog.
