Bogart Gelett AKA “Bogie,” is an Owner Surrender.  He came to us with his brother, BJ Porter.

The boys are 7 ½ yrs old and have been with their owner since they were old enough to leave their Mommy.

Bogie is a bit timid upon first introductions, but warms up quickly.

He is potty trained and has mastered using a Doggy Door.

His new family will need to watch him for a week or so; he did tinkle in the house a couple of times, but learned quickly.  Now he is golden.

He is currently working on crate training and making progress daily.

Bogie loves his walks, but is a bit of a puller on the leash.  He is getting better each day with practice.  And, he really, really enjoys a car ride!

He wants to be with his human, even if it means just being in the same room with them.

He tends to be a bit of a bed hog and loves to snuggle up next to you!  A typical Boston Terrier!

Bogie loves to be petted under his chin and behind the ears.  And you will get lots of kisses with this guy!

He is definitely food driven, so is working on his manners in that department (He used to have to compete with his brother for his food).

He also tends to be a bit grabby when it comes to taking treats.  So, it’s best not to hold the treat between your fingers or you could get a little nip!

He hasn’t shown any food aggression with the other dogs in the home though.

Bogie hasn’t seemed interested in toys, even though we’ve tried many different kinds.  Perhaps we have simply not found the right one yet.

Bogie is a sweet, gentle Boston boy and will make a wonderful addition to any loving home.

  • ADOPTION FEE $400

If you want to know more about me, please email my buddy Christine at the Boston Terrier Rescue of East Tennessee, Florida Division at: christyg59@hotmail.com

WE DO NOT HAVE A SHELTER FACILITY WHERE APPLICANTS CAN MEET OUR BT's PRIOR TO INITIATING THE ADOPTION PROCESS. Each are lovingly cared for in our network of private foster homes until the perfect forever home can be found for them.

Keep in mind that we prefer to place dogs within driving distance of where they are being fostered. If someone from outside the local area is approved for adoption, they must be willing to personally drive/fly to get the dog, over-the-road transports are done typically on a case by case basis.   We can occasionally help with transport, if there is someone traveling your direction.

PLEASE NOTE THAT AFTER MARCH 1, 2014, WE WILL NO LONGER BE ABLE TO ACCEPT APPLICATIONS FROM NY, CT, RI, MA, VT AND NH

Please use the foster momma or dad's contact information above for questions.

The process always begins with an application which can be found at The Boston Terrier Rescue of East Tennessee website

Note that in most cases, we do not adopt to families with small children, e.g., 'under 6,' as a precaution to the child's safety and the dog's safety. In some cases with larger Boston mixes or other dogs, we do make exceptions. Please ask the foster momma.

We prefer to place dogs within driving distance of where they are being fostered. If someone from outside the local area is approved for adoption, they must be willing to personally drive/fly to get the dog.  The East Coast division (NC/SC/VA/MD/DC) does have special transport capabilties for their kids.   Ask them.

Also, submission of an application and fee does not guarantee adoption of any specific Boston since that particular dog may have applications pending or may not be the right match for you.

About Boston Terrier Rescue of East Tennessee

About Our Rescue Group...

All breeds have their own particular needs and rescued pets often have special requirements as well, very often in want of medical care, often lacking nourishment and kindness, and often expensive to rehabilitate.

Because we have had Boston Terriers of our own for many years, we are familiar with their habits, peculiarities and their special needs.

We operate across the southeast under the auspices of the Boston Terrier Rescue Network. We share information and resources in all of the USA with affiliated Boston Rescues.

Our Adoption Process...

The adoption fees generally range from $400 for pups and up, to usually four years, $275 for adults, usually $200 when we have a mixed breed Boston.

The fee is generally based on the dog's age and provides for neutering or spaying when required, all required shots, heartworm testing (we endorse "slow kill", a monthly prevention program for heartworms, treatment for other parasites, any other vet visits or urgent medical attention required, and supplies to foster homes. It is our expectation & requirement that these same preventative routine medications be continued as well as any required vet visits after the pet is adopted.

If for some reason a match isn't made the first time around and you are approved, we will keep your application on file for the next opportunity to arise. Our primary goal is to place a dog in the most suitable environment, based on the animal's individual needs and its temperament. The commitment is lifelong and the Boston's interests are always foremost.
