Meet Cas from the PAWSOME litter named the "Oil" litter.
They appear to be Catahoula mix and born around 5/14/2017. They were found only days old, covered in some kind of motor oil in a cardboard box and left in a city park. Some people believe motor oil can treat fleas and mange...neither of which these puppies had! Fortunately, our southern partner swooped in and rescued them. They bathed them, nursed them back to health and have reared them to be happy, healthy pups! We are happy to say they are now ready to find their fur-ever homes!
Cas is so handsome, he's mostly black with white on his chest and chin. He is sure to turn heads wherever he goes. He is great with other dogs and is playful with cats. He likes toys and running and chasing the other foster dogs. Who said Oil and water don't mix? We guess they didn't see Cas in the pool! He loves to swim and would love to have a pool in his new home! A home with a fenced-in yard would be best, but if not he will need lots of walks and trips to a dog park. After play, he settles down nicely and likes to snuggle up with you. As with all puppies, he will need to be house, crate and leash trained. We recommend that all our dogs, especially puppies attend obedience training. All puppies need someone with lots of patience, time, energy and dedication. With training, Cas will make a great companion to take along on hikes, to the beach or any fun activity you can think of. He and his brother Tex are currently being fostered in the same home. Their foster says they are "great puppies"! They take correction well from humans and other dogs. They sleep well in their crate together at night. Cas knows "sit" and is a little more outgoing then his brother. Cas is more a "act first, ask questions later" kind of guy. Both are a little vocal during play time, but otherwise quiet, They love toys, people, dogs and of course FOOD! They have been curious of their foster's cat but have not tried to chase him.
Cas is waiting to join a loving family. If you would like him to join yours, please fill out an application and get ready for years of fun, happiness and lots of love!

Medical Note: This dog was treated for demodectic mange while in the SOS program. The dog has responded well to this treatment. Please note that demodex can flare up in any dog in times of stress (eg, transport, transition to a new home, change in food, etc). As such, the adopter is advised to discuss this condition and best next steps with their veterinarian. SOS recommends that dogs with a history of demodectic mange be kept on regular NexGard or Bravecto for flea/tick prevention for at least 3 months or until 18 months of age. Please see here for more information on demodectic mange: . Please check with your vet if you should have any questions or concerns about this condition, and discuss any concerns you may have with your SOS Adoption Counselor.

Adoption Fee: $550

**Additional info you should know -  For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix.  We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label.   Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption.  There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.

Our Adoption Process...

Step 1: Find Fido

Review our online dog bios, email us if you have any questions. At SOS, we want to make the RIGHT right match, and that means helping you and Fido start a relationship – sometimes from a long distance.

Take your time, explore your options, consider your home and what kind of companion will fit in your lifestyle.

Step 2: Complete Our Application

Once you think you have found the right dog for you, please complete our online application.

At SOS, we don’t just want to make a match, we want to make the right match. To do this, we need your help; we know our dogs, but we don’t know you yet – our application helps us get to know you!

Step 3: Have a Talk

We will review the application and if it appears to be a good match for the selected dog, we will arrange for a time to talk with you over the phone.

Step 4: Meet Your Match

If, after the phone interview, the match seems to be a good one, we will be happy to arrange a meet-n-greet with you and the dog, if the dog is local. Meet-n-greets will be scheduled in the order they are requested.

Step 5: Application Screening

Once everyone has met (if the dog is local), and the match seems to be a good one, a designated SOS volunteer will check your landlord, vet, and personal references, as relevant. We may also require a home visit or adopter meeting.

Step 6: Finalize The Adoption

If the match is a good one, you will be informed via email of the adoption decision, and provided with instructions for how to pay the adoption donation and complete our adoption contract/addendum(s).

Step 7: Pick Up Your New Best Friend!

Once the adoption is finalized, congratulations! We will contact you to make arrangements to pick up your new family member!
**Please note that additional vetting, quarantine and/or waiting periods may be required depending upon your state of residence.

All of our dogs are age appropriately vaccinated prior to adoption. All of our dogs have been spayed/neutered and tested/treated for common canine disease.
