Hope Phoebe's Story...
Saved in Phoebe's Memory!
The Phoebe transport was made possible when Jean Westcott, owner of The Artful Gardener, Mt. Hope Avenue, Rochester, NY, held a fundraiser in order to sponsor this life-saving run. Here is why Jean told us she wanted it named the PHOEBE Transport: 'Phoebe was my dear friend Paula's dog who passed at the age of 17. I met them both shortly after I opened the Artful Gardener when on a snowy day Paula, Phoebe and her other dog Finnigan came trundling into the shop. We've been friends ever since, we both share a passion for our four legged friends. I'd love to honor Phoebe's memory with this transport.'
Hope was born about June 1, 2015 and weighs about 25 lbs. We just LOVE her! She makes us laugh everyday. Of course we could be very wrong, but we truly think she is a Papilon/Pit mix. How could she not be with those huge, hairy, ears! And body style looks like a tiny, modified, Pit mix. We feel as her fur fills out (she is healing from a flea infestation - yes, no more fleas) and I feel her tail and, maybe legs, will end up with a bit of fluff like her ears. She is just a bit shy at first, but warms up nicely and I'm sure that once she is more and more comfortable with more and more humans adoring her that her personality is going to shine through. She is wonderful with all the other dogs. This is all we know so far as the southern shelter feels it is embarrassing to ask humans dropping off their pets for a reason since the reason is so often financial. We will be learning as we go and so will you. The Adoption Fee for this dog is $350.00.
Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control - a 'complete' pet. We accept CASH or Visa/Mastercard ONLY.
Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive - you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility.
YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 25 YEARS OF AGE TO ADOPT A DOG FROM JOYFUL RESCUES
We keep our pet list as up-to-date as possible. As soon as a pet is adopted, it is removed from the list. If a pet is still showing, it is still available for adoption.
Our primary goals here at Joyful Rescues are to re-home pets and save them from becoming homeless in the future, educate the public on pet care and spaying/neutering to control the pet overpopulation, to spay/neuter every pet before they leave us and spay/neuter as many pets, belonging to the public, as possible within our means.
