His adoption fee is $500USD, which covers his flight, kennel, and he is vetted appropriate to his age. Unfortunately, because the flights are so expensive, the adoption fee is non-negotiable.**

Rocco was found in the streets by a Good Samaritan who unfortunately didn’t have the means to really care for him very well. They posted him up on Craigslist for free, looking for a family to take him in. We often some unfortunate things come out of “free to a good home” posts, so we offered to bring Rocco into foster and promised to find him the best forever home!

Rocco is a roughly 9-month old Heeler Mix, we are not entirely sure what he is mixed with, but Heeler is his predominant physical characteristics. Our estimate is that he will be a mid-sized dog, in the 50-60 pound range.

He will be an ACTIVE dog while he continues to grow and an active adult. He would be best suited for a family that can commit to consistently getting him proper exercise and socialization. He will be great running, hiking, adventure buddy for the right family.

Rocco is still a young pup who didn’t get the benefit of a loving home when he was a baby, so he is looking for a family who will provide him with positive guidance as he continues to grow and develop into an amazing family companion. He is doing really well on his potty training, but may still have an occasional accident.
Rocco currently lives with other dogs of all sizes and does well with them. He loves to play and would be a great dog park companion. He has never shown any aggression toward people or animals, but he is a bit clingy at first, we are certain that before he was found, not too many people gave him positive attention.

Rocco is best suited family for a family that understands that dogs can take time to acclimate to their new homes - which will likely include having accidents, crying in their kennel, and chewing on things they are not supposed to. He is working hard on him leash manners, but this is still a work in progress.

We expect our dogs to be adopted by families who plan to keep them as indoor pets and part of the family. We do not adopt to families who plan to keep dogs outside for an extended period of time, for example the entire workday.

Rocco is healthy and has had him vetting completed (shots, microchip, and neuter). He is too young to need a heartworm test, but has been on preventatives. He does not have any health issues that we are aware of.

If you are interested in adding Rocco to your family, the first step is to fill out an adoption application via the following link:

About Reggie's Friends - San Francisco

About Our Rescue Group...

Reggie’s Friends was founded out of our love for helping dogs. Living in a city of 1.2 million homeless animals, there was rarely a day when we didn’t see a dog in need of help. Instead of just wanting to do something, we figured out how to do something! Reggie’s Friends is dedicated to the health and welfare of dogs in and around the greater Houston, TX area. We focus our attention on street dogs and shelter cases that other rescues may not have the resources for. We live and love by our motto Street Life To Sweet Life.

Our Adoption Process...

The first step in our adoption process is to fill out an application. This can be done via our website at the following link:

Our team will then review the application, contact references, perform a vet-check, and request photos of the common areas of the house and yard that serve in lieu of a home visit.

Following the completion of the application, we set up video chats either through Skype or Facetime between the foster and adoptive families.

Our adoption fee is $500USD, which includes the cost of transport and any relevant vet care appropriate to their age. Dogs flying into Canada are subject to an additional ~$125 in custom's fees. These fees are for customs and not related to the rescue or its expenses.

The application process generally takes between 5-7 days as all volunteers also have full time jobs and families.
