My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Rocco. He is a 9 month old puppy with plenty of kisses to give. When I say plenty.....I mean PLENTY of kisses. Rocco loves everyone. He came into rescue from a family who's living situation changed and could not keep him. Rocco is very skittish. He jumps at the vacuum, door, sudden moves etc. but he is a SUPER sweet baby. He is good with large dogs (50lbs and over). He is scared of small ones but may be okay with the proper introduction. His foster has a neighbor with a Pomeranian and Rocco will cower behind her legs when she starts barking. A lot of the nervous type behavior will reduce in time with a family that takes it slow and allows him to integrate at his own pace. He has no reaction to cats but may play with them a little too rough. He has not had prey drive in the yard or on walks. He is going to be a BIG boy. He is very tall. He weighs 105 but will fill in a little more as he gets older. He is playful and energetic and will do well in an active home. He is excellent with children 6 years and older. He has not been around children younger than that. Rocco recently got neutered and is still healing. He will make a great addition to a dane loving family. Since Rocco is very young a training requirement will be part of his adoption contract. Rocco came into rescue July 2017.
Update 8/14/17
Rocco continues to flourish in his foster home. He has been neutered and received his clean bill of health and is ready for his forever home. Rocco is still very skittish. There is NO aggression what so ever. He is the “run and hide” kind of Dane  He has gotten a lot better at sudden movements startling him. He has a way to go with scary things like the ice cube maker…lol…Rocco is not vocal at all. He loves all people. He just needs someone who will respect his need to take new situations slow and he will be fine. Rocco is currently living with a 7 year old female Dane and a 3 year old male boxer. Rocco seems to lean on his older sister to show him the way and he is exploring more and more. He even went to that scary fence to sniff the mean old Pomeranian with the assistance of his big sister. He would do best in a home with a confident older large dog to show him the world isn’t as scary as he thinks. Rocco has no negative behavior. He doesn’t counter surf, drink from toilets or damage anything. He is left in a room with his siblings while away and has free roam of the home at night. Not that you would know since he stays in the room with his foster mom  Rocco is truly a Velcro dane and a huge leaner. He walks well on a gentle leader but we only walk for about 30 minutes at a time. The cars going by or an emergency vehicle makes him press against his foster mom’s legs. He does not pull on a leash at all but you have to be ready in case he startles. He LOVES to run in the backyard. He would do best in a single family residence with a decent sized fenced in yard. He LOVES LOVES LOVES to play with his fursiblings. He does not fetch but is curious when a ball or frisbie is thrown. That will come in time. Rocco is honestly a funny Dane to have around. His curiosity is refreshing and he is a joy to have around. Rocco will make a great addition to any home that is willing to take new things a tad slow and let him settle in on his own terms.
