Brooke's Story...

Hi, I'm Brooke. I have the lovely attributes of a British Shorthair cat with the distinctively adorable sturdy body, super-plush fur and round, pretty face. I'm calm and good-natured, with a sweet, easy-going temperament. I have a little of that initial British reserve, but then I'm affectionate and enjoy attention. British Shorhairs are known for being devoted to their owners. Did you know that British Shorthairs are one of the most ancient breed of cats, and were the inspiration for the Cheshire Cat in Alice in Wonderland? I bet if you  meet me, you'll think I'm pretty special too!

A RappCats adoption is quick and easy. We charge a $95 adoption fee, which is one of the lowest of any private cat rescue group. The fee includes the cost of shots and spaying/neutering. We can usually complete an adoption within two business days after we conduct a phone interview. If two cats are adopted, the adoption fee for the second can be lowered or waived.

RappCats is a non-profit organization that helps stray, abused, abandoned and injured cats in Rappahannock County, Virginia. All our cats are spayed/neutered, current on their vaccinations and socialized to make wonderful pets. For more information or to adopt, contact us at 540-987-6050, rappcats@rappcats.org., or visit our website www.rappcats.org.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Brooke, a Washington British Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a British Shorthair for sale in Washington, or seeking a British Shorthair cat from a breeder in Washington.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Washington already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Washington breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even British Shorthair breeders who help with British Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Washington paves the way for another one to be saved.
