Facts about MaeMae

  • Breed: Hound (Unknown Type) Mix
  • Color: Tan/Yellow/Fawn - With White
  • Age: Young
  • Size: Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
  • Sex: Female
**MaeMae is currently being fostered in Houston, TX. Which means, unfortunately, meeting her in person prior to the adoption will not be possible. Her adoption donation is $500USD, which covers her flight and she is fully vetted. Because vet care and flights are so expensive, the adoption fee is non-negotiable.**

Our beautiful MaeMae came to us when her mom and siblings were rescued out of a deplorable junkyard. Our little family was starving for both food and attention, but we were able to turn all of that around for them through the loving care of foster homes.

MaeMae is a roughly 8-month old Hound mix. We believe she will be around the 55-60 pound mark fully grown. MaeMae is an active girl who will be best suited in a family that can commit to proper exercise and socialization. She would make a great running/jogging/adventure buddy for the right family.

MaeMae currently lives with other dogs and loves having friends to play with. She would be fine as an only dog as long as her family is able to find time for her to play with other dogs. She has not been tested with cats, but given her general disposition, we don’t anticipate she would have issues with a kitty friend given a proper introduction.

MaeMae loves to run, roll in the grass, and chew on her toy bones. She is very loving and we think she would be a great addition to a family with children who have been taught how to be kind and gentle with animals.

MaeMae is kennel trained and has done very well with her house training. Because she didn’t get the benefit of a loving home when she was a baby, she is still working on her leash training and just general confidence.

MaeMae’s ideal family will understand that she will take time and patience as she acclimates into her new life. She may have accidents, chew on things she is not supposed to, and bark in her kennel. It can take dogs a few weeks to properly acclimate to their new lives, so she is seeking a family that can give her this time and work with her on becoming an even more awesome dog than she already is.

MaeMae should be adopted by a family who plans to keep her indoors as part of a family - we do not adopt dogs into situations in which they will be left outside for extended periods of time unattended (for example, the entire work day).

MaeMae is fully vetted (spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm negative and on prevention) and has no health or allergy issues that we are currently aware of.

The first step in our adoption process is to fill out an application via our website which you can access via the following link:

About Reggie's Friends-Boston

About Our Rescue Group...

Reggie’s Friends was founded out of our love for helping dogs. Living in a city of 1.2 million homeless animals, there was rarely a day when we didn’t see a dog in need of help. Instead of just wanting to do something, we figured out how to do something! Reggie’s Friends is dedicated to the health and welfare of dogs in and around the greater Houston, TX area. We focus our attention on helping shelter dogs, street dogs, and dogs who have been abandoned in boarding facilities find loving, forever families.

Our Adoption Process...

The first step in our adoption process is to fill out an application. This can be done via our website at the following link:

Our team will then review the application, contact references, perform a vet-check, and request photos of the common areas of the house and yard that serve in lieu of a home visit.

Following the completion of the application, we set up video chats either through Skype or Facetime between the foster and adoptive families.

Our adoption fee is $500USD, which includes the cost of transport and any relevant vet care appropriate to their age. Dogs flying into Canada are subject to an additional ~$125 in custom's fees. These fees are for customs and not related to the rescue or its expenses.

The application process generally takes between 5-7 days as all volunteers also have full time jobs and families.
