Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Poncho!
He is a three year old double coated chihuahua, and all of 5 lbs. Very sweet pup although he has had a very hard time before coming to rescue. He was a hoarder dog, living in a back yard with 15 other dogs. Having to fight for food, he was very emaciated at 2 1/2 lbs. However, he is full of energy and loves spinning in circles and pawing at your arms and legs for affection. He does wonderfully with other small dogs once they get acquainted and never acts aggressively... although he does bark a bit during the initial introductions. He also loves to play and bounce around as he follows you around the house.
Due to his tough beginnings, he now has several medical problems that leave him being a special needs dog. His liver has trouble processing medication, and his enzymes get very high so he should be tested at least once a year. He also has seizures called Paroxysmal Dyskinesia. It basically means movement disorder caused by the seizures. However, the seizures are very infrequent and short in duration (feel free to ask for videos). Furthermore, he stays completely conscious during them and more acts like he has developed a limp or has lost control of his front or back legs for a few seconds. He is neutered, had a dental cleaning, and is otherwise extremely healthy and happy. Also, he does not require any medications for his conditions... just careful monitoring and attention.
Otherwise, he is very friendly once he knows you, but a little wiggly when held until he calms / becomes tired. Then, he snuggles up with you to chill for the night. He travels well in a crate, and is very well crate-trained when you are away. In fact, he hops right in with a treat. He will need a very special home, one with no kids, since he is so tiny and could easily be injured if dropped. Ideally, with someone who has a lot of time to spend with him. His foster mom has grown very attached to this ball of fur!!!
