Chaz-ADOPTION PENDING's Story...
Chaz is a handsome beagle with long silky ears and the sad eyes of a dog who has endured a hard life. He craves a kind word and touch. He was picked up as a stray and was clearly used to being an outside dog with minimal attention and/or harsh treatment. Every little sound or movement in the house is frightening to him...esp the tv. He is very comfortable around other friendly dogs, and is respectful of cats. He's quiet and meek with no hint of any aggression. He is very food-motivated and will be a dream to train, once he relaxes and feels trustful in an indoor setting. His little tail wags wildly when it's mealtime as if he's saying "ohwowohwowohwow...I'm going to get FOOD!" It's as if he just can't believe his good fortune that he's getting a good meal. Chaz just melts when he is petted and quickly cleaves to a friendly person. However, in any room, he seeks a "safe place" in a cubby hole or under furniture and will stay there until coaxed out. He will need a kind adopter who can be patient with him as he adjusts to an indoor life. There have been no indoor "accidents" and he always relieves himself when taken outside or for a walk, so we're confident he is potty-trained. Chaz is in foster care and a potential adopter will need to contact the DCHS shelter to make an appointment to meet him. He is a precious little soul who will be affectionate and eternally grateful when he finds his forever home.
