Hi my name is Lilo! I am a 1.5 year old female Rottweiler. I have been described as friendly, affectionate, active, liking to cuddle and loving to play. I have grown up around adult men, adult women, and teenagers ages 13-19.I am afraid of small children. I have been described as too rough for the kids. I have also grown up around another female dog and reptiles. I have been described as friendly, playful, loving to play and bossy with the other dog. I have never been around cats. I am crate trained but am use to having free run of the house. I know all of my basic commands like sit, stay, fetch and will come when my name is called. I enjoy playing in the yard for exercise and a ball is my favorite toy!

History

The Humane Society had only 25 members, less than $100, and a dream when we began in 1978.
We started out with dog houses behind the old Ice Plant on Route 5. Eventually we added dog runs to the back of the building. In the early 1980’s, we moved to our current location on Industrial Park Drive
in St. Charles.

Our Adoption Process...

All of our dogs and cats are spayed/neutered, have rabies and distemper shots (age appropriate), and are dewormed. Additionally, each adoptable dog/cat has a microchip that contains information that can help any shelter locate the pet's owner (as long as you register the chip) in the event the pet becomes lost. If you have not registered the chip, it will have the information of this shelter and we will be able to locate that person who adopted the pet.

All fees are used to cover operating costs, repairs and improvements necessary to provide the care required for lost, stray, or abandoned pets brought to the Humane Society of Charles County (we are a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization).

Adoption Fees are as follows (subject to change):

Adult Dogs (over 20 lbs): $95.00
Adult Dogs (under 20 lbs): $200.00
Puppies (up to 4 months of age): $200.00
