Hi there, I'm Happy! And no, I'm not just cheerful all the time -- that's my actual name! It suits me well, because I have a super happy, adorable little face! I was brought to CAHS through our Cruelty Investigations Team when my previous owner could no longer care for me. While the friendly staff and volunteers here are still trying to find out my favorite toys and treats, I am said to love going for long walks. I even try my best not to pull on the leash!

If you think adopting me would make you "Happy"-Go-Lucky, come in and meet me in Dog Room D today!

About Capital Area Humane Society

About Our Shelter...

For 133 years, the Capital Area Humane Society has been sheltering homeless animals, fighting animal cruelty and neglect, and offering programs to address the needs of animals in our community. More than 92 percent of our funding is provided by donations and fees for services. We are not a government agency, and we do not receive general operating support from national organizations. The Capital Area Humane Society relies on the support of private donors and volunteers to make our work possible.

Since 1883 the Capital Area Humane Society has been dedicated to providing only the highest quality of care for everyone we serve, animals and people alike. We are a team of experts—skilled, caring and compassionate people dedicated to our mission of fighting animal cruelty, helping animals in need and advocating for their well-being.

Our Mission

Our Adoption Process...

You’ll meet an Adoption Counselor to go over applications and discuss the animal you’re considering. We work with you to ensure your family, home and new family member is a perfect fit.
2. We’ll review all the documents and permissions (support from other adults in home, landlord permission and home ownership verification).
3. If your adoption is approved, your new pet can go home with you the same day providing they have had their spay/neuter surgery. If they haven't had their surgery yet, we will let you know when their surgery is scheduled and you can usually pick them up the next day.
