My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dottie, a strikingly beautiful 3 year old tortoiseshell female, likes attending adoption events. It gives her a chance to don her harness and leash and go exploring with a trusted, friendly volunteer companion. She impresses everyone with her ability to go on supervised walks, proving blindness doesn't really limit her quality of life at all. She is adept at using her other senses to compensate quite nicely. If you are able to open your heart and home to be a loving, forever human companion to a special needs kitty, consider adopting Dottie. Special needs kitties need special adopters, and we KNOW they're out there. Some people are drawn to special needs cats, realizing that what some may view as "disabilities" are truthfully something far different. Their uniqueness is what makes these kitties especially loving and rewarding companions. If you're as blind (pun intended) to their misperceived shortcomings as they are, you are rewarded with the best gifts ever! Dottie has been visually impaired since birth, she is completely happy, and she doesn't want anyone to feel sorry for her. Far from it, she just wants to be loved like any other kitty, and she most certainly deserves just that! Her blindness would necessitate a stable, secure indoor home environment without stairs or pool access, and consistency with regard to the placement of furniture, her food and water, and her litter box. Otherwise, her only requirements are patience, unconditional love, and a vocal human companion who likes to talk to their feline friends. Dottie can’t see you with her eyes, but she responds with boundless affection to the sound of your voice and the gentleness of your interactions with her. Let's rally around sweet Dottie and help her find the loving, forever home and family we know she is destined to bless with her own unique, inspiring presence and unbridled joy. Email us at adopt@brigidscrossing.org to schedule a meet and greet, or share this post to spread the word so Dottie can make her love connection with that special someone she's patiently awaiting
