My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Due to state laws regarding out of state adoptions, we cannot adopt to families in Massachusetts or Rhode Island.

Cage is an adorable 4 month old shepherd/labrador mix puppy. He was found as a stray and we did not see either parent so breed is an educated guess made by our veterinarian and is NOT a guarantee - this also means we have no way of knowing what his adult size will be.

He is a loving and playful guy who does great with other dogs, cats, and children. He does tend to be a bit shy at first so his new family will have to be willing to be a little patient with him. Although he can be a little slow to trust new people, he has never been aggressive or given us any problems - he just takes a bit to warm up to strangers.

He is currently being fostered in Mississippi and will be transported via Pet Express transport services upon adoption. His adoption fee is $400 and includes neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, a nose to tail vet check, and transport costs.

Second Chances lists dogs as being available in Kittery, ME because we transport our dogs to Kittery every other week after they have been adopted. All of our local shelters have a high euthanasia rate due to overpopulation so we created our rescue group to primarily adopt to the northern states to help keep as many dogs as we can from entering our kill shelters.
