My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Landa. I am a young, long haired black German Shepherd pup (1 1/2 yrs) who sadly needs to find a new home. My humans (who I've been with since I was a baby) have to move because of their work. They feel so badly that they can't find a place to live where I am welcome! We don't understand why people don't want dogs - dogs usually do less damage than people do! My humans and I want to stay together - we don't want to say good-bye - but there just aren't any options for us now.

I need new people who will treat me like a family member - the way I am treated now. I am very loyal and like to be in constant contact with my humans. I would be perfect for families who have plenty of time for me and who will take me with them on their outings or who will just let me sit beside them at home. Before I lay around at home though I will need some exercise!
I am happy, energetic and I just love to play! Fetch is my favourite but I'll try anything - Frisbee or soccer or whatever games the humans enjoy. I like toys too and sometimes I get so excited I want to destroy them! I need a human who loves to play and who likesbeing outside. Walking, running, hiking are all good for me! The more exercise I get the sleepier I am at the end of the day! Tired dogs, who are given lots of exercise and mental stimulation, are happy dogs and are less likely to dig or bark or chew! Smart, athletic dogs like me need to use their big brains as well as their big muscles!

My human has been working with me and helping me learn things dogs are supposed to know these days. I've done well so far - I know the basics and I'm still working at getting better everyday. There is a quite a lot to learn but I like it - it's fun! I want to continue to learn when I go to my new home. My owner thinks that the more I know, the more people will like me. I think he's right! I'm housetrained of course! I learned that when I was just a little guy. Oh, and I know how to stay quiet in my kennel. I wouldn't want to be in there for long stretches of time but I know the drill!

Sometimes, I am a bit stand-offish with other dogs. In fact sometimes I might even bark at them. I'm not sure why I do it. I probably need some training classes with other dogs so I can learn to meet them the right way. I'm not very old and need to learn some more manners and get some more socialization. If my new family is interested, going to classes would be a great way to bond.

Although, I am very brave and protective I am not an outside dog. Long haired German Shepherds don't have an undercoat like short coated GS's so we don't tolerate cold or wet weather very well. I am an inside dog and I love it that way! I'm not a guard dog either. I will only protect my people not their possessions!

I think that's just about all I can think of to say about me except that I am healthy, vaccinated, neutered and tattooed.

If you are looking for a really fun, athletic new family member, please consider me. My adoption fee is $450
