We acquired Happi at a local pet shop in the Bronx that is no longer open. That was nearly eleven years ago. When we acquired Happi, my daughters were in elementary school. They are now both in college, one at home and one away. He likes to be around people. He does not like to be left alone. He is an indoor cat; we live in an apartment. He always comes to join people in a room. He does not like to be alone. Now, he sleeps a lot because he is older. He uses his litter box most of the time, unless he senses change. He eats well. His stools are regular. He licks himself obsessively on one spot of his body, since he has gotten older. We have taken him to the vet for this. And, the vet just sedates him and gives him an injection of steroids. We have done this multiple times, but nothing stops him from obsessively licking. And I don't think frequent steroid injections and heavy mood-altering drugs can be a long-term treatment option. It's also expensive, unless you have good insurance.
