**Vallie is currently being fostered in Houston. Her adoption will be long-distance, meaning that meeting her in person prior to her adoption. Her adoption fee is $500USD, which covers her flight, kennel, and she is vetted appropriate to her age. There is an additional ~$125CAN due at custom's upon pick up. This is a custom's fee and not related to the rescue's expenses. Unfortunately, because the flights are so expensive, the adoption fee is non-negotiable.**

Our beautiful Vallie was found tied to a fence post at the back of our vet’s property on Valentine’s Day. She was skinny, had clearly just had a litter, and terrified of all things. When the vet asked if we could make space for this beautiful girl in our rescue, we couldn’t say YES fast enough. Fast forward a few months, Vallie is healthy, happy, loving, and ready for her new life!

Vallie is a roughly 3 year-old American Staffordshire. She is currently around 55 pounds and fully grown. Vallie is a medium level activity girl, who would be great with a family that can assure proper daily exercise and social stimulation. Many apartment and condo boards have regulations against her breed – if you live in an apartment/condo, please be sure to check for any restrictions prior to applying.

Vallie is still a bit shy, we aren’t sure what happened in her former life, but it was not awesome. But, given a bit to warm up, she is a happy, active, playful, and loving girl. She is seeking a family that will give her some patience to learn that she is safe in her new life. We promise she’ll reward that patience greatly!

Vallie currently lives with other dogs ranging from 8 to 80 pounds and she loves to have playmates. While she is totally fine with small dogs, she can be a bit rough and tumble when playing, so that is something to take into account. She would be great for a family who currently has dogs or great as a bachelorette. She would be a wonderful hiking and adventuring companion.

Vallie has done great with her house and kennel training. She loves to go for car rides and is a champ out in public. But, she should be adopted by a family that understands that it can take dogs time to acclimate into their new lives. This time could include having accidents, crying in her kennel, or chewing on things she is not supposed to. She needs a family that will provide her with positive reinforcement while she is going through this adjustment.

Vallie has met and done well with kids (ages 4 and 7), but like we said she is a bit shy, so she would be best placed with kids that are not too in her face while she adjusts. She has never had any aggressive reactions, but we want to set everyone involved up for success.

We expect our dogs to be adopted by families who plan to keep them as indoor pets and part of the family. We do not adopt to families who plan to keep dogs outside for an extended period of time, for example the entire workday.

Unfortunately, Vallie was not well cared for prior to coming into rescue and she is heartworm positive. She has been on treatment since coming into rescue and the rescue will provide the medication she needs to complete her treatment. This is not life-threatening, as it is being cared for, it’s just a matter of making sure she has her medication on schedule.

Vallie is fully vetted (spayed, vaccinated and microchipped).

About Reggie's Friends- Vancouver

About Our Rescue Group...

Reggie’s Friends was founded out of our love for helping dogs. Living in a city of 1.2 million homeless animals, there was rarely a day when we didn’t see a dog in need of help. Instead of just wanting to do something, we figured out how to do something! Reggie’s Friends is dedicated to the health and welfare of dogs in and around the greater Houston, TX area. We focus our attention on helping shelter dogs, street dogs, and dogs who have been abandoned in boarding facilities find loving, forever families.

Our Adoption Process...

The first step in our adoption process is to fill out an application. This can be done via our website at the following link: https://reggiesfriends.org/adoptables/

Our team will then review the application, contact references, perform a vet-check, and request photos of the common areas of the house and yard that serve in lieu of a home visit.

Following the completion of the application, we set up video chats either through Skype or Facetime between the foster and adoptive families.

Our adoption fee is $500USD, which includes the cost of transport and any relevant vet care appropriate to their age. Dogs flying into Canada are subject to an additional ~$125 in custom's fees. These fees are for customs and not related to the rescue or its expenses.

The application process generally takes between 5-7 days as all volunteers also have full time jobs and families.
