Name: Anastasia      Best Guess for Breed: Akita mix

Best Guess for Age: 4y/o     SEX: female

Approximate Weight: 55lbs

Has Lived With:  other doggies

Currently Living at: DC Boarding

Anastasia is looking for her forever family, folks! She is a beautiful Akita mix who was found as a stray down in South Carolina.  She is currently living at a scary shelter until she's able to make it up to Washington, DC to find her forever family.  Anastasia weighs around 55lbs currently and we believe she is an Akita mix. She is roughly 4 years old - well past the puppy stage, but still young enough to have a lot of spunk in her!

Anastasia LOVES to swim.  She would excel with a family or owner who allowed her take the occasional dive when it's warm enough. She would be as happy living in the water as she would in land, so she hopes whoever brings her home enjoys the water too! She'll make an exception if you don't want to swim with her though! She really is just looking for that perfect home she can relax and be herself with.

Akitas are smart dogs. They excel when they are given jobs and activities to keep them busy.  Anastasia hopes you will take her to obedience school so she can show off how smart she is. She would do best with a family who likes to be active but can relax and unwind at the end of a long day.

Like most shelter dogs, Anastasia may need a refresher on housetraining. She is likely crate trained.

The adoption fee for this dog is $350, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. If you are interested in adopting, please download our Adoption Questionnaire and email it to Elissa at

About Lucky Dog Animal Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Lucky Dog Animal Rescue is a group of highly motivated and highly dedicated volunteers. We spend countless hours making sure that wonderful dogs find loving forever homes. We don't do it for money -- we do it for the joy a dog can bring to its new family; we do it for our love of animals; and we do it to save lives!

Come Meet Our Pets...

Our adoption events are held each weekend. A schedule of times and locations can be found at

Our Adoption Process...

The adoption process begins when you submit an adoption application either online or at an adoption event. The individual responsible for the dog you are interested in adopting - a position we call the “adoption coordinator” - will then set up a time to discuss your application over the telephone. The adoption coordinator will check your vet reference to make sure all current and past pets were kept up-to-date with their shots and medical care. The adoption coordinator will also set up a home visit with one of our trained volunteers. That individual will come to your home to ensure that it is a safe environment, to confirm that everyone in the home is on board with adopting a dog, and to discuss any other questions you may have about dog adoption!
