Facts about Noah
Breed: Standardbred/Standardbred Mix
I am already neutered.
Meet Noah! This Standardbred gelding holds a special place in our hearts. He has been in our care for one year, and in that time we have worked on getting him comfortable and happy. Noah is between 10-13 years old, but he has had a hard life of racing and work in those short years. He was surrendered to us by an owner who was trying to put weight on him so that he could be a cart horse again, but even with help from the vet and additional food Noah would not gain. Once he was in our custody we quickly realized that his inability to gain was more complex than other skinny horses we have worked with, so we spend lots of time and resources on diagnostics and various treatments. We were able to rule out most diseases and cancer, and he has put on weight through most of his body and his appetite is much better than when he first came to us. The 3 vets we have worked with all agree that Noah has a great quality of life and he may never look a 'normal' weight, but he can still enjoy being a companion to other horses and people. He should not be used for riding due to his 'hind-end pathology' from years of hard work and potential injuries to his hips/pelvis/stifles. Noah is currently in a foster home where he loves hanging out with his gelding friend in their free access dry lot from their stalls and grazing and romping in an attached grass paddock. Noah needs a home where he can move and isn't confined to a stall most of the day. He is very calm and sweet and enjoys to be brushed and doted upon, and would do well with most horses as long as he isn't pushed to run and play past his comfort level.
