**Pearl is currently being fostered in Houston. Her adoption will be long-distance, meaning that meeting her in person prior to her adoption. Her adoption fee is $500USD, which covers her flight, kennel, and she is vetted appropriate to her age. Unfortunately, because the flights are so expensive, the adoption fee is non-negotiable.**

Our beautiful Pearl was found with five little babies in tow trying to survive the streets of Houston all alone. She did a great job keeping her babies safe until she caught the attention of one of our fosters who quickly whisked this little family to safety. We are so excited that she is ready to be somebody’s baby, forever!

Pearl is a roughly 2 year-old Chihuahua mix. She is 12 pounds, fully grown and a medium energy girl. Pearl is a jackpot dog, she is so easy going, loving, and just so happy. She would be ideally suited for any family and living situation.

Pearl currently lives with other dogs that are bigger than her and does just fine. She would be great as an addition to a family that already has other dogs or as a bachelorette getting all of the love. While Pearl has does not currently live with children, we think her general disposition will make her well suited for children who have been taught how to be respectful of animals.

Pearl has done great with her house and kennel training. But, she should be adopted by a family that understands that it can take dogs time to acclimate into their new lives. This time could include having accidents, crying in her kennel, or chewing on things she is not supposed to. She needs a family that will provide her with positive reinforcement while she is going through this adjustment.

We expect our dogs to be adopted by families who plan to keep them as indoor pets and part of the family. We do not adopt to families who plan to keep dogs outside for an extended period of time, for example the entire workday.

Unfortunately, Pearl was not well cared for prior to coming into rescue and she is heartworm positive. She has been on treatment since coming into rescue and the rescue will provide the medication she needs to complete her treatment. This is not life-threatening, as it is being cared for, it’s just a matter of making sure she has her medication on schedule.

Pearl is fully vetted (spayed, vaccinated and microchipped).

If you are interested in adding Pearl to your family, the first step is to fill out an adoption application via the following link: https://reggiesfriends.org/adoptables/

About Reggie's Friends- Portland

About Our Rescue Group...

Reggie’s Friends was founded out of our love for helping dogs. Living in a city of 1.2 million homeless animals, there was rarely a day when we didn’t see a dog in need of help. Instead of just wanting to do something, we figured out how to do something! Reggie’s Friends is dedicated to the health and welfare of dogs in and around the greater Houston, TX area. We focus our attention on helping shelter dogs, street dogs, and dogs who have been abandoned in boarding facilities find loving, forever families.

Our Adoption Process...

The first step in our adoption process is to fill out an application. This can be done via our website at the following link: https://reggiesfriends.org/adoptables/

Our team will then review the application, contact references, perform a vet-check, and request photos of the common areas of the house and yard that serve in lieu of a home visit.

Following the completion of the application, we set up video chats either through Skype or Facetime between the foster and adoptive families.

Our adoption fee is $500USD, which includes the cost of transport and any relevant vet care appropriate to their age. Dogs flying into Canada are subject to an additional ~$125 in custom's fees. These fees are for customs and not related to the rescue or its expenses.

The application process generally takes between 5-7 days as all volunteers also have full time jobs and families.
