My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

JOEY: 10 - 11 year old neutered black male Lab 64 lbs

Joey was brought into the shelter with a younger female lab by a concerned citizen that found them wandering together. The shelter staff scanned them for microchips and found Joey – AKA – Joe Black – was microchipped and they called the person listed as the contact. The owner told the shelter he wanted to come and get the girl dog but the shelter told him it was Joey with the microchip and he told the shelter he didn’t want Joey any longer. That he have given Joey to the landscaper and Joey would come back to see his female lab and Joey would then help her escape. He said he did not want Joey any longer as he was a bad influence on his female lab. He came and got his female lab and did not even go and see Joey.
GGLRR pulled Joey from the shelter and we now have him in a foster home where he is doing great.

From the foster mom:

Joey is a real sweetheart! He is gentle, a bit shy, and gets to know people gradually. Then he reaches out to be petted and loved. And snuggled. Joey LOVES his walks, the more, the better. He's a smart boy and is learning his leash manners quite well. He likes to meet people and is getting used to meeting other dogs politely. Joey also gets along with his foster's lab! But kitties? He wants to chase them. Joey needs a loving home where he can relax and take his time getting to know his new place. He went to a new foster for a week and made the transition well. He got to go to work with the foster mom and just loves all the attention and taking naps. We have had him around a variety of dog and he is good but sometimes loves to bark as he wants to go and say hello. If you are looking for a great companion dog to take on a couple walks a day Joey is your easy going guy.

We have had Joey into the vet where they treated his skin issues. GGLRR will take Joey back to the vet at the end of August to have his mass removed.
He is located in San Jose.

If you are interested in meeting Joey please email Rescue Rep Liz at liz@jobshopsf.com or call 415-613-6374.

(Please keep in mind we are all volunteers, most of us work full time and we all have personal lives. I do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient and I will be back in touch with you. When the dogs are in foster homes then it may take longer as we need to touch base with the fosters for updates on the dogs. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week and we do not have a facility that we keep the dogs housed in. They are scattered all over the Bay Area.)
