My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Captain. He came into UYR from a hoarding situation. Captain is 2-3 years old and weighs 12.3 lbs. His adoption fee is. $450. He is being fostered in Tampa, FL.

UPDATED BIO 08/15/2017: Ahoy mates! "Captain" here and I'd like to say "thank you" to all my angels that helped me leave a terrible hoarding situation and sail into a loving foster home. I was nervous on my voyage, not understanding what was going on and where all my brothers and sisters had gone, but I am settling in quickly, and am enjoying having a comfy, nice-smelling bed to sleep in. I’m especially grateful that I don’t have anymore of those pesky fleas all over me that made me itch and scratch so much. My prior home had 24 other dogs in it and we didn’t get a lot of love or attention. ☹

My foster mom says I'm one of the handsomest boys she's ever seen with my soft brown/gray/tan curly coat. I saw the dogtor this morning for the first time - ever. I'm a sturdy 12.3 pounds and the dogtor says that I'm most likely between 2-3 years old. I've never had any vaccines before, so I had to get lots of shots this morning. I also had to give blood so the dogtor could make sure I'm a healthy boy. I didn't enjoy the needles, but my foster mommy gave me lots of love afterwards to make me feel better.

Lets talk about my new foster family - they are so nice to me! I have three human foster siblings that like to sit with me on the sofa and give me lots of love. My foster mom/dad take me on walks and I really enjoy being outside with them. I'm learning to do my business when I go outside and I promise that I'm a quick learner. I've only been in my foster home for a couple of days, but I will check back with you once I've had more time to settle in.

I need to go back to see the dogtor in a couple of weeks for booster shots and then I will be ready for a b-i-g surgery – my neuter. I should be ready to adopt in 4-6 weeks. My ideal furever home would be one where I am not left alone for long periods of time. I'd love a fenced-in yard and maybe a doggie friend or two to play with. I kinda like human kids as long as they are older. (12+) Do you think you could love me? I would love you back for sure!

INITIAL BIO 08/12/2017: Captain came into UYR today from an horrendous hoarding situation . Please watch our website for pictures and updates very soon.

PLEASE NOTE: UYR took in a total of 11 dogs today from this hoarding situation, including Captain. None of these dogs received any routine veterinarian care and all will need to receive vaccinations, worming, microchips, dentals, fecals, HW testing and will be altered. Please help us help Captain and the other precious yorkies taken in today by donating to their vetting expenses, which will be very high due to the number of dogs coming in today. No donation is too small. You can donate to any of these dogs by clicking on the Donation Button below. Thank you from Captain and the other dogs, and especially from the folks at United Yorkie Rescue who participated in their rescue/transport and to the foster moms and dads who so eagerly stepped forward to foster these very needy little dogs.
