My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Heinz 57 – maybe hound or lab mix?, male, 3 1/2 years, 51 lbs.
Osbourne, aka Ozzie, is doing well in his foster home. His breed mix is anyone’s guess – possibly there’s lab or hound in there, but what we do know is that he is a great boy. Very underweight when he came to Peppertree from a local shelter, Ozzie is putting on weight (7 pounds so far!) and is very lovable and affectionate. He is a Velcro dog, wishing to be near his people. He loves to go for walks and is working on his leash manners, doing better with a harness. His foster mom thinks he would make a great hiking dog once he reaches a healthy weight. Being as he was so underweight when he arrived, he understandably wishes to munch on any food he can reach – even if it is on the counter or in your hands! On the plus side, Ozzie is completely housetrained and is very good with kids.  He is around horses and chickens and doesn’t seem to mind them. He is mostly good with other dogs, but does seem to prefer canine companions larger than he is. We think it would help him settle in to a new home if there is a resident dog with a similar temperament. We don’t know how Ozzie is with cats.

** If you are interested in adopting this dog, you must first complete an adoption application at http://peppertree.org/adoptapp.php. Or visit our site (http://peppertree.org/adoptlist.php) and learn about other Peppertree dogs. *Note: visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.
